The degree of the soundness of the structure of the watering tunnel system is evaluated in whole in either by routine observation of the appearance of the structure or by regular implementation of the nondestructive evaluation to the structures, combined with long term monitoring information and appropriate structural analysis. The earlier the monitoring information is established, the earlier the history of the mechanical response and the safety of the tunnel can be traced. Hence the urgent problems encounted are (1) to set up the monitoring system for the clearance of the tunnel (2) to the establish the information for the soil profile which covers the exterior part of the tunnel (3) and also to set up the system to measure the lateral movement of the soil. The goal of this project is ce of the tunnel. Hence present project did not include this part which will be the main concern next.This project includes the following items: (1) Set up the monitoring system for the deflection interior to the tunnel and establish the initial monitoring information for such a system. (2) Set up the profile information for the surrounding soil of the tunnel and use GPR to scan some selected cross sections of the tunnel. (3) Stress analysis model for the tunnel.
