The rapid development of technology has changed our living environment at such a pace that the wisdom of our ancestry and related cultural heritage are gradually disappearing. With regard to agricultural irrigation, the events and objects that once existed in the course of its development, if collected through modern information technology from the perspective of technological development and culture, will prove their value in perennial preservation as well as in extension and the passing-on of culture. This project, therefore, initiated by TAOYUAN Irrigation Research & Development Foundation, was intended to integrate the efforts of experts in agricultural irrigation in Taiwan and of the related academics to combine information technology and the Internet for the establishment of the Digital Museum for Agricultural Irrigation in Taiwan. This project was carried out by departments and individuals related to Irrigation Associations nationwide, divided into Agricultural Machinery Group and Water Conservancy Group, whose completion of the planning report for the Digital Museum for Agricultural Irrigation in Taiwan has laid the foundation for the installation of the Museum's website, the prototype of which website, on the other hand, has been set up by the Information Technology Group, consisting of researchers in the Department of Information Engineering and the Information Processing Center of Tamkang University.
