The Tao-yuen Main Canal recently proceeded all-out renewal improvement. Its renewal improvement design, except to consider original conveyance function of water. And also at the same time, to consider the beautification of environment, and the both banks of the Tao-yuen Main Canal provide spaces of greenized and beautified space. In order to add life environmental landscape, and to let people to remember the previous generations for their benevolence of canal construction, specially raise a monumental inscription to make it clear reclamation history for after ages and construct the landscaping water wheel to increase the visit tour place, so as to expect to call back peoples when one drink water and one will think of it sources—feel grateful; thanksgiving mood.In order that the landscaping water wheel can well match for the whole scenery of the tao-yuen Main canal,as wall as the already completed and installed look-out platform at the outlet of the No.4 tunnel. The planning of the visit movement line was completed by the Tao-yuen Irrigation Association , and from the outlet of tunnel (I.e. Sta.0k+000) downstream to (Sta. 0k+059) is planned to build a look-out platform, and form this outlet of tunnel (Sta. 0k+000) and thd the look-out platform (Sta.0k+059) to downstream (I.e. Sta. 0k+160), for this distance in between to form the visit move line, and the landscaping water wheel will be installed in between this distance, I.e. between Sta. 0k+000 and Sta. 0k+160. Except to consider the visit move line, clearness of visitors’ sight angle also put into consideration factors, the final location was decided at the Sta.0k+140 spot.The design work has already completed one unit of landscaping water wheel which has two purposes, I.e. for sight seer’s visit and for guide-post. The construction cost is estimated to be at NTS 7,378,260, and the construction period is about 150 calender days can be completed, I.e. if the construction is started in November, at May next year will be completed. The maintenance of the water wheel is designed to adopt the least maintenance as possible. Only the bearing lubrication is still to use the fixed term maintenance work. After guarantee term was over, every half year intervals, fixed term maintenance will be done by the men of the Irrigation Association or by the manufacturer.
